Bollocks

You know what's so galling?  That we're so much better than this but yet again we seem to be hamstrung by a manager not prepared to take risks and a team without the ability to rise above the pressure.

And that's poor.  Really poor.  Capello does remind me of Benitez, only prepared to let his sides cut loose when the chips are down.  Let em go from the start.  Tell them that they're the best in the World whether you believe it or not.  Sometimes all the tactics in the world don't matter if you instil some belief in a side and tonight it was clear that was missing.  The players have to stand up though, Rooney was poor, Gerrard looked dreadfully out of sorts and Lampard was no where.  Only when Defoe came on did we seem to have some direction, surely he must start in the next game and end the Heskey experiment.

Apologies for not following up this mornings post but it's been an emotional and stressful evening on twitter and England's performance tonight was horribly poor.

  1. Slept through the match, bollocks, but even if there is a certain tiny amount of inbred schadenfreude that I can't quite shake despite my GREAT efforts to be British about this World Cup :-), you are so right about the belief thing. It's back to AT's post the other day as well, about how the fans always react to mistakes with blame and derision. The Nike advert buys into that too. If everyone could band together behind their teams and actually "support" them, the guys might be able to bring their best.
