Isle of Wight Festival 2011 -Everlong

I could go on for quite a while about the Isle of Wight Fest.  About the highs and lows of a weekend spent in the sun and the rain.  The long walk home on Sunday night where no part of me was dry, the glorious sunshine of Saturday, or the laughing.  The endless laughing.

But for me the whole weekend boiled down to one perfect moment.  They come along once in a while don't they?  Not often admittedly, but when they do they have to be fully embraced.  No shame in the reaction the moment brings, no dulling of emotion from beer or anything else.

For an hour and a half I went nuts for the Foos.  I haven't danced like that since I don't know when.  And then everything stopped and I lived Everlong.

Most of the songs I love are bound up in one relationship or an another but Everlong isn't like that.  It's just mine.

Whenever I've seen the Foos before they've played the stripped down and beautiful acoustic version.  On Saturday night it was the full, explosive version.  Quiet and loud.  Thundering.  My face got wet and not from rain.

Cheers to everyone that made the weekend so special.

Cheers to Dave Grohl and co for making Saturday night one of the best of my life.
